Where da gold at? This question is asked in Army of the Dead, another fine film that Maverick Entertainment Group has given me a copy of to write about.
In 1590, Spanish conquistadors led by Vasco de Gama landed in Mexico searching for El Dorado, the fabled City of Gold. What they found was a
Native American curse which turned them into the eternal walking dead. 410 years later, a professor has taken his students out for an archaeological dig, as he needs unwitting patsies to help him with his rather unhealthy obsession of finding the gold for himself. Unfortunately for our hapless academics, when they find the gold they trip up the curse and discover the conquistador skeletons kept their vocal chords and have a newfound fascination with killing things.
This movie is a good old fashioned by-the-numbers undead romp. Lots of tense scenes of those crazy kids being outnumbered by armies of darkness and carnage abound. It’s a great choice for people who love explosions and have a special thing for the color red.
